The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority has seized a container of weapons at the Tema Port. In a press conference, the GRA revealed that the said 40ft container arrived at the port on Monday, November 4 , 2024 from the United States of America.
The commissioner for customs, Brigadier General Zimbrim Ayorrogo gave an official report of the seizure in a press conference today, Thursday, November 21, 2024.
During a routine examination on Friday, November 15, 2024, by customs officers, they discovered 53 firearms, 74 magazines, and 65 live ammunition concealed in three different suitcases. The officers immediately reported the case to the Ghana Revenue Authority Intelligence and Investigation Unit.

The weapons were seized and other items in the container were thoroughly examined and detained for further investigation.
The agents and the consignee representative have been arrested and detained at the Marine and Railway Police Station in Tema for further investigation.
The GRA emphasized that all importers requiring to import firearms and ammunition into the country must obtain a license and permit from the Ministry of Interior before the import.
