Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Okaikwei Central, has officially been declared the winner of the constituency’s seat. The confirmation comes after days of contention following conflicting projections from the Electoral Commission (EC) and major media outlets, which initially suggested victory for his opponent, Patrick Yaw Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Sadiq and his team maintained confidence in their victory throughout the ordeal, asserting that their internal tally reflected a clear win. This belief sparked a heated debate as the media reports and EC projections created confusion among the electorate.
Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu secured a decisive victory, securing 21,303 votes, which represents 52.92% of the total votes cast. Patrick Yaw Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), trailed with 18,951 votes, representing 47.08%.
The official confirmation of Sadiq’s win represents a major political shift in Okaikwei Central, a constituency that has traditionally leaned toward the NPP.
