As the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana continues to finalize the results from the December 2024 elections, frustration has grown among the public due to the delays in announcing the outcome. In front of regional office in Accra, a crowd has gathered, anxiously awaiting the results, particularly in the face of misinformation circulating on social media. Many have expressed concern over the lack of clear communication and the long wait, with the EC’s official announcement expected to follow a carefully structured process.
The EC has emphasized the importance of transparency in the collation process, which involves announcing the results from each of the 16 regional collation centers before the final national results are declared. This method, which was used in the 2020 elections, is intended to ensure that results are announced gradually, preventing any premature conclusions.
Despite these efforts to maintain order, the delays have led to rising tensions, with many political supporters expressing impatience, hoping for their candidates to be declared victorious. As the EC continues its work, officials have urged the public to remain calm, explaining that the process is designed to ensure fairness and accuracy.
