The Electoral Commission (EC) has rescheduled the collation of results in Tema Central to Tuesday, December 10, citing safety concerns. The process is now set to begin at 10 a.m. at the regional police headquarters under tight security.
The postponement follows escalating tensions between the NDC’s Ebi Bright and the NPP’s Charles Forson. Disagreements over the electoral process erupted after Ebi Bright was initially declared the provisional winner during the counting phase, triggering celebrations among her supporters.
However, the NPP contested the results and demanded a recount, a move that has faced staunch opposition from Ebi Bright. Addressing her supporters, she expressed unwavering confidence in the transparency of the initial count. “The will of the people must be respected. Any attempt to manipulate this election will face firm resistance,” she asserted.
The delay has left the constituency on edge, with security forces deployed to maintain order. Both candidates have appealed to their followers for calm as they await the EC’s final declaration. The EC has assured the public of a fair and transparent collation process in the rescheduled exercise.
