The NDC has made history in the just-ended elections by winning the parliamentary seat in Dome Kwabenya. The Dome Kwabenya constituency has long been considered one of the major strongholds of the New Patriotic Party in the Greater Accra Region.
NDC’s Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, won the Dome Kwabenya constituency parliamentary seat with 51,634 votes, overturning what was long considered a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party. Mike Oquaye Jr., parliamentary candidate for the NPP trailed closely behind with 50,477 votes.
Akurugu’s victory marks a significant milestone as it is the first time the NDC has claimed the Dome Kwabenya seat.
