Cecilia Dapaah has denied all claims that she received $43 million to dredge the Odaw River and transform Accra into the cleanest city in Africa.
In a statement, Mr. Kofi Mensah, aide to the former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, emphatically stated the claims as baseless and malicious.
Mr. Kofi Mensah further explained that the funds received, which amounted to $42.2 million, were allocated to the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources under the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) Project.
Mr. Kofi Mensah revealed that as of the time Cecilia Dapaah was leaving office, procurement processes were still underway to engage both local and international consultants. He added that the funds remain under the ministry’s control and have not been misappropriated.
He emphasized that the GARID Project funds were intended to improve solid waste management capacity, and said further clarifications could be sought from the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources.
