Ghanaian reggae/dancehall musician Stonebwoy has expressed deep concern over the persistent negativity among some Ghanaians, particularly on social media platforms.
In a recent interview, he recounted an incident where a lighthearted interaction on TikTok Live with Nigerian influencer Peller was met with unwarranted criticism from certain sections of the Ghanaian public.
Stonebwoy highlighted that instead of capitalizing on such moments to promote Ghanaian artistry, the focus often shifts to unnecessary debates, thereby diminishing potential opportunities. He emphasized the importance of uplifting local artists, stating, “We should be elevating our own people, not dragging them down.”
He also reflected on a past experience at the Grammys, where his attempt to network with international stars was met with ridicule by some Ghanaians, further illustrating the detrimental impact of this negative mindset.
Stonebwoy urged Ghanaians to adopt a more supportive attitude towards their artists, recognizing that every positive stride contributes to the collective advancement of the country’s music industry.
