The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) has projected that fuel prices at retail the pumps will see an increase during the first pricing window starting July 1, 2025.
According to the projections by COMAC, petrol prices are could rise by 2%, while diesel prices may witness a 5% increase. Additionally, prices for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are expected to see a 1% upward adjustment. This marks the first price hike at the pumps since February 2025.
Dr. Riverson Oppong, the Chief Executive of the chamber, made this announcement during a press briefing in Accra on Monday, June 30.
“Even before the implementation of the amended Energy Sector Levy which has been suspended, our projections indicate that pump prices may be going up,” he stated.
“I can say petrol is likely to go up by 2 percent, LPG may witness a little above 1 percent and Diesel will likely increase by 5 percent. This is after taking all factors into consideration, including NPA price build ups,” he added.
The Chamber has called for a review of the regulations governing the petroleum downstream sector to ensure more cost-effective operations.
