Minister of State for Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu
The government has officially dissolved the National Cathedral Secretariat following a damning audit by Deloitte and Touche that exposed widespread financial mismanagement and procurement breaches.
Minister of State for Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced the decision at a press briefing on Friday, July 18, stating that the dissolution took effect on May 1, 2025.
He revealed that the Attorney-General is taking steps to terminate the project’s contract to prevent further financial losses. “A forensic audit will also be conducted by the Auditor-General, and any wrongdoing will be dealt with decisively,” he added.

The audit found unaccounted payments, violations of procurement procedures, and overlapping contractual roles. Despite halting construction years ago, the project has already cost taxpayers an estimated $97 million.
More details are expected in the coming weeks as investigations continue.
