Award-winning Ghanaian artist Stonebwoy has joined the many voices mourning the passing of highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who died on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
In a heartfelt post shared on Facebook and sighted by MyNewsGh, Stonebwoy expressed sorrow over the loss but found comfort in the lasting legacy Daddy Lumba leaves behind.
Known for his unique fusion of indigenous Ghanaian sounds with reggae, dancehall, and Afropop, Stonebwoy acknowledged Lumba’s deep influence on Ghana’s music culture and the broader African music scene.
He praised the late icon for his powerful role in shaping both identity and sound in Ghanaian music:
“As hard as this hits 💔, I am only comforted in the firm trust that a true legend never dies. Death will always remain a part of life.”
“I count myself blessed to have come in touch with a rare one who shaped the sound of Ghana, the African sound, and influenced generations including those yet to come.”
Stonebwoy further emphasized the importance of preserving Daddy Lumba’s legacy:
“So long as the state and nation preserve his legacy, posthumously he will remain a key contributor to our cultural heritage.”
He concluded his tribute with a moving reflection on Lumba’s contributions:
