Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido paid a moving tribute to the late Ghanaian highlife icon Daddy Lumba during his “5Five Alive” tour stop in Toronto, Canada.
Performing on Saturday night, July 26, 2025 the same day the legendary musician passed away Davido honored Lumba by performing one of his timeless classics on stage. The heartfelt gesture was dedicated to the beloved artist, who died at the age of 60 at the Bank Hospital in Accra, following a brief admission for undisclosed health issues.
Born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, Daddy Lumba was one of Ghana’s most celebrated musicians, widely regarded as a pioneer of modern highlife music. His career spanned over three decades, producing hits that shaped Ghana’s musical identity and influenced generations of artists across West Africa.
The tribute sparked an emotional reaction from the audience, especially Ghanaian fans who were deeply touched by Davido’s show of solidarity. Social media was soon awash with videos of the moment, with many praising the performance as a poignant symbol of unity between Nigerian and Ghanaian music.
