Ghanaian media personality Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah has called on authorities to honour the legacy of late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba with a meaningful and lasting public tribute.
Following the passing of the iconic musician, Afrifa-Mensah proposed naming a roundabout after him particularly in the Ashanti Region, where Lumba’s influence remains deeply rooted. He added that several roundabouts across the country could bear Lumba’s name in recognition of his immense contribution to Ghanaian music.
After visiting the late artiste’s home, Afrifa-Mensah stressed that Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, deserves national honour and visibility. He urged institutions like the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board and the Ghana Tourism Authority to play active roles in preserving and promoting Lumba’s legacy.
While some have suggested erecting a statue, Afrifa-Mensah believes the legendary musician deserves even more enduring forms of recognition.
