A student of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), was involved in a violent altercation with a campus security officer following a dispute with a lecturer over academic grades.
According to reports, the student confronted the lecturer to express dissatisfaction with grades received, leading to a heated verbal exchange. As the situation escalated, a security officer intervened in an attempt to restore calm.
However, the student allegedly resisted the officer’s intervention and is reported to have thrown the first punch, resulting in a physical confrontation between the two.
The university has since launched an investigation into the incident and has assured the public that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against those found responsible. In a brief statement, UEW emphasized its commitment to maintaining discipline and urged students to use appropriate channels to address academic concerns.
The incident has raised discussions on campus about student-lecturer relations and the role of security in managing such disputes.
