The 37 Military Hospital in Accra has announced a series of contingency arrangements to ensure uninterrupted medical care as its Trauma and Surgical Emergency Unit undergoes fumigation and maintenance from August 4 to August 13, 2025.
Hospital authorities say the temporary closure is necessary to maintain the facility’s high hygiene and safety standards, but have assured the public that emergency services will remain operational.
During the maintenance period, all trauma and surgical emergency cases will be directed to the Simango Ward, which has been prepared to handle the expected patient load. The hospital’s management has also coordinated with medical teams to ensure adequate staffing and resources are in place to minimise disruption.
The Ghana Armed Forces, which oversees the hospital, has appealed for public cooperation, noting that the exercise is part of its broader commitment to delivering safe and effective healthcare.
As one of Ghana’s leading referral hospitals, the 37 Military Hospital serves both civilians and military personnel and plays a critical role in emergency medical care nationwide.
