President Mahama reaffirms commitment to fiscal discipline ahead of IMF exit
President John Dramani Mahama has made his first statement on the military helicopter crash that occurred in Adansi Akrofuom, Ashanti Region, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The crash claimed the lives of eight prominent individuals, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, former NDC Parliamentary Candidate Samuel Aboagye, NDC National First Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, and three military personnel: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Meanwhile, Samples of the remains of the eight individuals who perished in Wednesday’s tragic military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region have been flown to South Africa for DNA analysis to aid in their identification.
Although the 37 Military Hospital in Accra was initially expected to carry out the autopsy and identification procedures, the condition of the bodies has necessitated more advanced forensic processes, prompting the decision to transfer the remains abroad.
