Former Auditor-General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo, has been appointed as the new Board Chairman of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The appointment, which was confirmed on Tuesday, 19th August, 2025, marks the return of the anti-corruption crusader to frontline public service after his controversial exit from the Audit Service in 2021.
Daniel Yaw Domelevo, widely respected for his strong stance against corruption and commitment to accountability in public financial management, is expected to bring his wealth of experience to strengthen EOCO’s mandate of investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crimes in the country.
His leadership comes at a time when EOCO is under public scrutiny to intensify its fight against financial crimes, cyber fraud, money laundering, and high-profile corruption cases.
Civil society groups have welcomed the appointment, describing it as a positive step toward reinforcing Ghana’s anti-corruption drive.
Domelevo, who served as Auditor-General from 2016 until his retirement, was known for surcharging state institutions and individuals found to have misappropriated public funds. His uncompromising approach won him both admiration and criticism across the political divide.
As Board Chairman, he is expected to provide strategic direction and oversight to EOCO, working closely with the Executive Director and other board members to improve transparency, efficiency, and public confidence in the institution.
