Presidential Adviser and Special Aide to President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has dismissed reports alleging that the President traveled by private jet to Japan and Singapore.
According to her, spreading such propaganda only weakens Ghana’s democracy and creates unnecessary drama, especially when matters of presidential travel can easily be verified.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Tuesday 19, August, 2025, Mogtari described the claims as “propaganda,” stressing that no such trip had taken place.
“Let me state this once and without any fear of contradiction or equivocation, that nobody has traveled via private jet to Japan or to Singapore please.
If this propaganda is anything to go by, then our democracy is doomed. Matters of presidential travels are matters of public interest and so can very easily be checked without generating unnecessary drama,” she wrote.
Joyce Bawa Mogtari further noted that the spread of falsehoods around presidential travel undermines democratic accountability and distracts from issues of national concern.
Her comments come amid heated debate on social media about the cost and mode of travel by high-ranking political leaders.
