The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has introduced a set of new additions to this year’s National Farmers’ Day awards, expanding the scope of recognition beyond traditional farming categories. The latest enhancements are designed to encourage innovation, youth participation, and broader agricultural excellence across the country.
New additions to the 2025 Farmers’ Day awards include:
- A new award category dedicated to basic and second-cycle schools with outstanding school farms or agriculture-related projects.
- National television showcasing for schools that excel in agricultural production as part of the new category.
- Recognition of innovative student-led agricultural initiatives aimed at boosting youth involvement in the sector.
- Inclusion of educational institutions in the national exhibition at the Agricultural Fair, allowing schools to present produce, agritech ideas, and farm projects.
These additions mark a deliberate shift toward integrating younger generations into Ghana’s agricultural agenda. According to the Ministry, the expanded recognition is part of a broader effort to position agriculture as a prestigious and sustainable career path, beginning from the classroom. The changes also signal the government’s commitment to nurturing long-term food security by equipping the youth with practical agricultural experience and visibility.
