Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged relentless dedication to the party’s mission of reclaiming power in the 2028 general elections, assuring supporters that he will “not sleep” until the goal is achieved.
The former Vice President made the vow during a meeting with party delegates at his private residence on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. The gathering was aimed at reinforcing confidence in his leadership and energizing grassroots support for the party’s next electoral campaign.
“You have saved the party by your action. Because the message is gone and in 2028, they cannot use the same message against us; it will rather give us strength,” Dr. Bawumia told the delegates.
He underscored his commitment to the cause, declaring: “I want to assure you that because you have imposed your confidence in me, I will work at all times to ensure that we win power in 2028. I will not sleep. I will work day and night to ensure that I bring the power to the NPP.”
Dr. Bawumia emphasized unity as the decisive factor in securing victory, pointing to the party’s numerical advantage over the opposition. “When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC, and so all we need is unity. In 2024, our members didn’t vote. So, if we are able to bring everybody on board, we can win,” he said.
He described the party’s current efforts as entering a new phase, urging members to remain steadfast and actively contribute to rebuilding. “Our task is clear. At this time, we are moving to phase two. So I want to plead with you all to assist us in this fight,” he added.
The meeting highlighted Bawumia’s determination to consolidate party structures and mobilize supporters as the NPP prepares for the long road to 2028.
