The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has introduced a nationwide campaign urging Ghanaians and friends of Ghana to wear Fugu (Batakari) every Wednesday.
In a statement signed by the Minister for the sector, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Ministry explained that the initiative is intended to safeguard and showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage while deepening national pride and identity.
It added that the campaign is expected to deliver notable social and economic gains by supporting local weavers, designers, artisans, and traders along the entire production chain.
Government officials believe widespread participation in wearing Fugu will promote national cohesion, boost the creative industry, and stand as a powerful expression of Ghana’s cultural pride and confidence.
