German-born footballer of Ghanaian descent, Ilyas Ansah, has confirmed that he has no plans to play for the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 21-year-old has been reportedly monitored by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as a potential addition to the national team for the upcoming tournament. However, Ansah, who has represented Germany at youth levels, says he has not yet decided which country he will represent at the senior level.
“After the U21 European Championship, I will consider my options for next year and make a decision,” he told Tribuna.com. “As of now, I won’t be going to the World Cup with Ghana.”
Currently, Ansah plays for Union Berlin in Germany, where he has recorded five goals and two assists in 26 appearances.
