An Accra Circuit Court has remanded six men into custody after denying bail applications in connection with the robbery of 12.5 kilogrammes of gold worth GH¢14,387,096 and an additional GH¢400,000 in cash.
The accused, Salim Muhammed (alias Fariwata), Alhassan Illiasu (alias Arab Man), Hamza Agerego (alias Lambert or Nene Bowku), Abdul Samed Bonsiabu Larry (alias Touch), Fatao Ibrahim (alias Motorway), and Abubarkar Sadique (alias Fifty Cents), all pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery. Presiding judge Dennis Eyram Benson denied oral bail applications from their lawyers and remanded all six into lawful custody. The case has been adjourned to April 27, 2026.
According to the prosecution, the robbery took place in November 2024 as a large sum was being transported from a jewellery shop to a bank. The suspects allegedly used a Toyota Highlander with registration number GN 7357-19 to carry out the attack, firing several gunshots into the air in the process. One occupant of the vehicle carrying the money was shot in the left leg during the incident.
A seventh suspect, Baba Chika, also known as Oil Money, was not among those in the dock. He remains at large and is currently being sought by the police.
