The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has denied social media claims alleging that Sector Minister Samuel Nartey George has misused or “blown” public funds.
In a statement issued on Monday, May 18, the Ministry said the document being circulated online has been misrepresented and does not show that any public money has been spent, released, or improperly used.
The Ministry explained that the document is part of an official request for Commitment Authorisation from the Ministry of Finance, in line with standard public financial management and procurement procedures for the 2026 fiscal year.
It added that the request covers planned projects, operational activities, and programme interventions scheduled for the year under review.
“The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MOCDTI) has taken notice of a document circulating on social media, accompanied by claims that the Minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), has ‘blown’ public funds,” parts of the statement noted.
It further stressed that the document is purely procedural and should not be interpreted as evidence of expenditure.
“The document in circulation is an extract from a broader official submission seeking Commitment Authorisation from the Ministry of Finance, in line with established public financial management and procurement procedures, and based on budgetary allocations duly approved by Parliament for the 2026 fiscal year.”
The Ministry emphasized that the approval process is still ongoing and that no payments have been made for any of the items listed in the document circulating online.
