Popularly known as “Kantanka,” Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo earned recognition as a trailblazing African inventor and spiritual leader who promoted self-reliance and local innovation.
He established the Kristo Asafo Mission in 1971 and later founded the Kantanka Group, which became known for advancing local industrialisation through vehicle production, engineering and technological innovation.
Through Kantanka Automobile, he became widely known for producing vehicles tailored to African terrain, while also introducing innovations in electronics, agriculture and machinery that were often displayed during annual exhibitions.
In addition to his contributions to technology and industry, he was recognised for his charitable efforts through the church and the Kantanka Group, supporting healthcare, education, job creation and vocational training for many Ghanaians.
As preparations continue for his final burial rites, tributes have continued to pour in, with many hailing him as an icon of African creativity, innovation and determination.
