Firefighters from the Aburi and Akropong Fire Stations have brought a fire under control at Adonten Senior High School (SHS), successfully preventing it from spreading beyond the school’s science block.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, July 4, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the blaze caused extensive damage to the House Master’s office and a storeroom, destroying a number of educational and administrative materials.
According to the Service, items lost in the fire included office equipment, books, school uniforms and electronic devices. However, firefighters were able to rescue library books and gardening tools before the flames reached them.

The GNFS credited the prompt and coordinated response of personnel for containing the fire and preventing it from engulfing other key parts of the school.
The Service said school staff and students had attempted to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived, but were unable to bring the situation under control.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
Investigations have been launched to establish the cause of the fire, while authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage.
