Global pop star Taylor Swift and American football player Travis Kelce have reportedly married in a lavish, celebrity-filled ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York, with comedian Adam Sandler officiating the event.
According to Swift’s longtime publicist, the couple exchanged vows on Friday wearing custom Christian Dior designs created under the direction of Jonathan Anderson. They chose not to have traditional bridesmaids or groomsmen, instead asking Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, to serve as Man of Honour and Kelce’s brother, former NFL player Jason Kelce, to be Best Man.
The high-profile wedding transformed one of Manhattan’s busiest districts, with roads around Madison Square Garden closed to accommodate the celebration. The ceremony drew a host of well-known guests from the worlds of entertainment and sport, including actors Hugh Grant, Jason Sudeikis and Ethan Hawke, singer Benson Boone, model Gigi Hadid, actor Bradley Cooper, actress Dakota Johnson and television presenter Graham Norton.

Celebrations began on Thursday with a smaller pre-wedding gathering attended by about 100 guests before Friday’s main ceremony, which featured heightened security, large privacy tents and a convoy of black SUVs transporting attendees to the venue.
Swift’s publicist confirmed that the couple married in New York City, while Madison Square Garden marked the occasion by illuminating the arena in pink and displaying giant “JUST&T MARRIED” signs in honour of the newlyweds.
The bride reportedly wore Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewellery to complement her Dior gown, while Kelce also wore a custom Dior outfit for the ceremony.
The event attracted thousands of fans, who gathered outside the venue throughout the day despite temperatures reaching 37 degrees Celsius. Many sang Swift’s songs, waved merchandise and climbed nearby structures in the hope of catching a glimpse of the couple or their celebrity guests.
Police closed surrounding streets to both vehicles and pedestrians, with barriers and a heavy security presence helping to manage crowds and maintain privacy for those attending.
Although many guests arrived beneath covered entrances, photographers captured several high-profile figures making their way to the ceremony, while others entered under large marquees shielded from public view.
The two-day celebration has been widely described as one of the most extravagant celebrity weddings in recent memory, drawing worldwide attention comparable to that typically reserved for royal events.
The Empire State Building also joined the celebrations by lighting up in tribute to the couple, while the wedding dominated news coverage and social media discussions around the world.
Commenting on the cultural significance of the marriage, pop culture analyst Kristen Meinzer said the union represents the coming together of two of America’s most influential worlds—music and professional football—making it especially meaningful to fans.
Swift has lived in New York since 2014 and has frequently spoken about her affection for the city, while Kelce became more closely associated with the city after the couple began dating in 2023.
Industry experts estimated that staging the celebration at Madison Square Garden and securing the surrounding area would have cost tens of millions of dollars.
Ahead of the festivities, the couple reportedly donated US$26 million to more than 20 charitable organisations, although they did not publicly link the donations to their wedding.
While some New Yorkers questioned the disruption caused by the road closures, many fans said the scale of the celebration reflected Swift’s global influence, with crowds erupting in cheers when the “Just&T Married” signs appeared outside the arena following the ceremony.
