The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has extended the deadline for applications for the Black Stars head coach position to October 15, 2026, in a bid to attract a wider pool of qualified candidates.
The extension follows a recommendation by the Black Stars Coach Search Committee, which has called for a broader recruitment process to identify a coach aligned with Ghana’s long-term football ambitions.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 9, the GFA said the decision was taken in consultation with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.
The Association indicated that the assessment, shortlisting and interviewing of applicants would continue throughout October and November, after which the committee is expected to submit its final recommendation.
As part of the expanded recruitment process, the committee will conduct background checks, consult football stakeholders and technical experts, and evaluate candidates based on their technical competence, leadership qualities and ability to meet high-performance standards.
The GFA said its objective is to appoint a coach capable of establishing a clear playing identity for the Black Stars and laying the groundwork for sustained success.
