Swift action by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) prevented a blaze at Mim Senior High School in the Ahafo Region from engulfing an entire girls’ dormitory, officials confirmed.
The fire broke out on July 13, gutting two of the eight rooms in the dormitory before firefighters from the Goaso Municipal Fire Station managed to contain it. Six rooms were salvaged, and no casualties were reported.
Regional Fire Commander ACFO II Samuel Ferdie Tetteh visited the scene the following day to assess the damage. The GNFS said investigations are underway to determine the cause of the outbreak.

In a statement signed by the Ahafo Regional PRO, the Service stressed that while the immediate danger had been averted, the incident underscores the importance of fire safety awareness in schools. “No casualties were recorded; the cause of the fire remains under investigation,” the statement noted.
The Mim SHS incident adds to a series of recent fire outbreaks in educational institutions, highlighting the need for stronger preventive measures and regular inspections to safeguard students and property.
