The United States Embassy in Accra has announced that it will temporarily suspend most routine consular services from July 20 to July 31, 2026, to carry out planned maintenance works at its facility. Regular consular operations are scheduled to resume on August 3, 2026.
The Embassy said walk-in services, including notary services and Consular Reports of Death Abroad, will not be available during the maintenance period.
Despite the temporary suspension, applicants who have been notified by email that their passports or Consular Reports of Birth Abroad are ready may still collect their documents on Thursdays between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The Embassy also indicated that adult passport renewal applications submitted through its drop box will continue to be processed without interruption, with application guidelines available on its website.
U.S. citizens in Ghana who require urgent consular assistance during the maintenance period have been advised to contact the Embassy’s duty officer on +233 (0) 30 274 1000.
The Embassy encouraged members of the public to make the necessary arrangements in advance and monitor its website for further updates on the restoration of normal services.
