Nima, Kasoa to get new Community Day Schools under STARR-J Project

The government has announced plans to construct Community Day Schools in Nima and Kasoa under the Secondary Education Transformation for Access, Relevance and Results (STARR-J) Project.

Minister for Education Haruna Iddrisu said the initiative forms part of efforts to expand access to quality secondary education while addressing infrastructure deficits across the sector.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Monday, July 20, Mr. Iddrisu said President John Dramani Mahama is committed to promoting the Community Day School concept, using the Kwabenya Community Day School as a model.

“President Mahama believes we should replicate the Community Day School model established at Kwabenya. As part of the STARR-J Project, one such school will be built in Nima and another in Kasoa,” he said.

The Education Minister also announced that the STARR-J Project will enhance inclusive education by establishing a Special Needs Education facility in Ho in the Volta Region.

He explained that the new centre will improve access to specialised educational services and provide additional support for learners with disabilities in the area.

“I am pleased to announce that Ho will benefit from a new Special Needs Education facility under the STARR-J Project to better serve learners with disabilities,” he added.

The STARR-J Project is expected to strengthen secondary education infrastructure nationwide, broaden access to education, and improve the quality and relevance of teaching and learning across senior high schools, senior high technical schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
