NSS ghost names case adjourned to July 31

Proceedings in the ongoing National Service Scheme (NSS) ghost names case involving former Executive Director Osei Assibey Antwi have been put on hold until July 31, as lawyers for the defence prepare a fresh legal challenge over assets frozen during investigations.

The adjournment was granted after defence counsel informed the court that additional time was needed to assess documents connected to the accounts before submitting an application for their release.

Representing the former NSS boss, lawyer Ralph Poku-Adusei said the defence had planned to file the application earlier but decided to first examine relevant records to ensure the motion is properly presented before the court.

The accounts in question form part of measures taken during investigations into the alleged ghost names scandal at the National Service Scheme, a case that has attracted significant public attention.

While no details were disclosed about the specific accounts under review, the defence indicated that the document assessment would determine the next steps in its application.
