The body of a Scottish woman was discovered inside a suitcase in an abandoned building in Athens, Greece, sparking an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
Police Scotland said it is working with Greek authorities after the woman’s body was reportedly found by a homeless man in the Kypseli district of Athens on July 18.
The deceased has been identified by local media as Elisabeth-Jane Ross, 38, who is believed to have travelled to Greece from Cyprus last month. According to Greek state broadcaster ERT, investigators estimate she died between five and seven days before her body was discovered.

Greek police confirmed to BBC Scotland News that the body of a British woman was recovered, with Interpol fingerprint records matching a woman born in 1988. Investigations into the case are continuing.
Authorities said the cause of death has not yet been established, as they are still awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.
Police are also seeking additional information from British authorities to complete the identification process and determine the circumstances surrounding her trip, including when she arrived in Greece, how she travelled and who she may have been with.
Officials said they could not release further details while investigations remain ongoing.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) confirmed it is providing consular assistance to the woman’s family and is in contact with local authorities in Greece.
Meanwhile, Police Scotland said it is supporting the woman’s relatives in Scotland while continuing to liaise with Greek investigators.
