Henry Kwabena Kokofu, a contender in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional executive elections, says he expects to win between 62% and 65% of the votes in the regional chairmanship contest.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, August 15, Kokofu expressed confidence in his chances of victory, saying his main objective was to help strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He said while he was confident of securing a decisive victory, the achievement would ultimately belong to the NPP rather than him personally.
Kokofu said his election would contribute to efforts to rebuild the party’s grassroots structures and improve its prospects of returning to power in 2028.
He added that he was committed to supporting Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s bid for the presidency while helping the party secure a parliamentary majority.
The former Bantama MP also dismissed allegations that he was keeping delegates at a designated location on election day in an attempt to influence the vote.
According to him, his campaign has instead focused on uniting party members, strengthening the grassroots and promoting cohesion within the NPP.
The Ashanti Regional chairmanship election has become a closely contested race between Kokofu, a former Environmental Protection Agency CEO, and Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA.
