Fire engulfs storeroom at Apaaso, Kintampo
Firefighters from the Kintampo Fire Station have prevented a six-bedroom house from suffering major damage after a fire broke out in its storeroom and threatened to spread to adjoining rooms at Apaaso in the Kintampo Municipality.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), in a Facebook post on Saturday, August 29, said the incident occurred on Monday, August 24. The station received an emergency call at 6:21 p.m. alerting officers to the fire.
A seven-member firefighting team, led by ADOII Muriya Gordon, was promptly dispatched to the scene in fire tender DPT No. FS498, driven by STNOI Adu Clement.
The crew arrived at 6:32 p.m. and found the storeroom completely engulfed in flames, with the fire threatening to spread to the neighbouring rooms. After assessing the situation, the officer in charge directed the team to begin firefighting operations.
The firefighters successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading and protecting all six rooms in the house. The fire was brought under control at 6:43 p.m. and fully extinguished by 7:03 p.m.
Following the operation, the firefighters educated the occupants on proper housekeeping practices and essential fire-safety precautions.
They also encouraged households to keep fire extinguishers readily available and ensure that family members are properly trained to use them in the event of a fire.
