Carlos Queiroz reappointed as Black Stars head coach
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed an agreement with Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz to remain in charge of the Black Stars.
The development comes weeks after the expiration of Queiroz’s previous contract, under which he guided Ghana at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup.
The GFA said negotiations involving Queiroz, the Association and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have resulted in a fresh coaching agreement.
His new spell with the national team will begin during the next international window.
According to the GFA, Queiroz’s wealth of international experience, technical knowledge and familiarity with the Black Stars were key factors in the decision to retain him for the team’s next phase.
“The GFA believes Queiroz’s extensive international experience, technical expertise and knowledge of the Black Stars position him strongly to lead the team into this next chapter,” the Association said in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 2.
The GFA, however, did not reveal the length of the new agreement or other specific terms of his mandate.
The Association said additional information on Queiroz’s assignment and the Black Stars’ upcoming programme would be communicated at a later date.
Queiroz will now focus on preparing the team for its upcoming international fixtures as the GFA looks to usher in what it hopes will be a successful new chapter for Ghanaian football on the international stage.
