Kidnappers demand GH¢50,000 ransom for 30-year-old man in Assin Fosu

A family in Assin Fosu in the Fosu Municipality of the Central Region is urgently seeking help to secure the release of 30-year-old Bismark Amoh, who has reportedly been abducted and subjected to severe physical abuse by suspected kidnappers.

Amoh was allegedly kidnapped on Sunday, September 6, 2026, and has spent more than 48 hours in captivity. His abductors have reportedly threatened to kill him if his family fails to pay the demanded ransom.

According to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the kidnappers initially demanded GH¢45,000 and gave the family a 24-hour deadline to raise the money.

The family’s fears intensified after the abductors sent disturbing audio and video recordings of Amoh to his relatives via WhatsApp.

In the recordings, the victim is heard pleading for his life and urging his family to raise the ransom as quickly as possible.

Details contained in the recordings, obtained by the GNA, reportedly show Amoh stripped naked and restrained with ropes around his hands, legs and neck.

He was also allegedly forced to lie in water that had been poured onto the floor while his captors repeatedly assaulted him with ropes.

The recordings further capture the victim crying for help as the suspected kidnappers slapped and struck him from different directions.

The alleged abuse has heightened concerns for Amoh’s safety, turning the ransom demand into an urgent appeal for his survival.

GNA investigations indicate that the kidnappers may have been using Amoh’s own mobile phone to communicate with his family through WhatsApp, apparently in an attempt to conceal their identities and avoid leaving digital traces that could assist investigators.

Desperate to secure his release, the family appealed to friends, relatives and other well-wishers for financial support. They were able to raise GH¢19,500, which was sent to the kidnappers.

However, rather than releasing Amoh, one of the alleged abductors reportedly demanded an additional GH¢30,500, bringing the total ransom request to GH¢50,000.

A woman’s voice heard in the background of the recording allegedly accused Amoh of defrauding the people involved in his detention, claiming this was the reason for his capture, subsequent abuse and the demand for money.
