Bail application in Ghana Jollof-linked case pushed to Thursday
A decision on the bail request of Salomey Baffoe, who is facing charges linked to the alleged publication of false information by the social media account Ghana Jollof, will have to wait a little longer after the High Court adjourned proceedings to September 24.
The delay came after prosecutors asked for additional time to file a response, explaining that the Attorney-General’s office had only recently received the application and had not yet assigned the matter to a substantive lawyer.
Lawyers for Baffoe opposed the request, arguing that issues involving a person’s freedom should be handled with urgency. They maintained that the State had already been served and had enough time to respond.
The defence further warned that prolonged delays could defeat the purpose of the application, noting that their client would have spent close to two weeks in custody before the matter is determined.
After hearing both sides, the court directed the prosecution to file and serve its response before the next hearing and adjourned the case to Thursday, September 24.
The bail application forms part of ongoing proceedings involving Baffoe’s alleged connection to content published by the Ghana Jollof social media platform.
