Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago sign Air Services Agreement to boost connectivity
Ghana has entered into an Air Services Agreement with Trinidad and Tobago aimed at improving air connectivity and opening up new avenues for bilateral cooperation.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, during a meeting between President John Dramani Mahama and Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, S.C., in New York.
In a Facebook post, President Mahama said the agreement was part of efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries by enhancing connectivity and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
“This agreement strengthens air connectivity and creates new opportunities for cooperation between our countries,” he stated.
The two leaders also discussed developments in the reparations agenda, as well as trade and investment, extending their discussions beyond aviation to other areas of shared interest.
Their engagement on reparations reflects ongoing efforts by African and Caribbean countries to address historical injustices and strengthen cooperation on issues of common concern.
The meeting took place in New York, where President Mahama is undertaking diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
