The trial of former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food and Buffer Stock Company (NAFCo), Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, has been adjourned to October 20, 2026.
The adjournment was granted to give the accused persons time to access information stored on mobile phones and laptops recently returned to them by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The case was scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 7, but Justice Francis Achibonga postponed proceedings after lawyers for the accused argued that they needed access to information on the electronic devices to properly prepare their defence.
Counsel told the court that the devices contained material they considered necessary for responding to the charges against their clients.
Devices released
EOCO on Monday, October 5, returned money and electronic devices seized from the couple during investigations into allegations that they caused financial loss of GH¢62.6 million to the state.
The items returned included mobile phones and laptops which the accused persons said contained information relevant to their defence.
Following the release of the devices, the court agreed to adjourn the trial until October 20 to allow Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba and Faiza Seidu Wuni sufficient time to retrieve the information and prepare for the proceedings.
