Louisa Buabeng, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Effutu constituency, Louisa has been remanded into police custody by the Winneba High Court on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
The independent candidate was initially arrested on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, after a hearing she had filed to seek an injunction on the December 7 parliamentary election. Louisa Buabeng accused the Electoral Commission of leaking information in her nomination file to the public.
She was re-arrested yesterday Wednesday, November 27, 2024, and had another hearing on Thursday, November 28, 2024, the arrest is on the grounds of the discovery of several voter identification cards that are alleged to have been found at the residence of one of her aides.
The aide has been charged with unlawful possession of documents, and Louisa Buabeng, independent candidate for Effutu has been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime.
The court has remanded the candidate into custody for four days, and she is expected to reappear before the court on Monday, December 2, 2024.
The ruling was made by Her Ladyship Justice Marriam Agyeman Gyasi Jawhary.
