In a significant operation at Kotoka International Airport, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vigilance Transition Team, working alongside the Ghana Police, intercepted 17 boxes of gold allegedly being smuggled to Dubai.
Acting on intelligence and suspicions of illegal gold transfer, the team swiftly intervened to prevent the shipment from leaving the country.
The seized gold was transported to the Greater Accra Regional Police Headquarters for preliminary investigations. Following protocol, it has been handed over to the Bank of Ghana for safekeeping. Authorities have confirmed that the gold will remain secure until after the presidential transition on January 7, 2025, when further actions will be taken.
The NDC Vigilance Team has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring transparency and protecting national assets during this critical period.
