The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Professionals Forum has expressed its support for the retention of Alban Bagbin as Speaker of Parliament in the upcoming ninth Parliament.
The Forum commended Bagbin for his exceptional leadership, which they believe has been vital in strengthening parliamentary processes and upholding the NDC’s values.
During an honorary ceremony held in Parliament on Saturday, the Forum’s President, Sam Pee Yalley, praised Bagbin for his unwavering commitment to fostering robust parliamentary institutions.
Yalley also acknowledged Bagbin’s role as a key figure linking the NDC and Parliament, stating, “To those who work closely with you, you represent more than just the position of Speaker; you embody the spirit and principles of the NDC. Your advocacy for strong institutions like Parliament is truly commendable.”
Yalley urged NDC Members of Parliament to retain Bagbin as Speaker, stressing that this decision is supported by both research and public sentiment, rather than mere political considerations. He emphasized that Bagbin’s leadership will be pivotal in navigating the complexities of a closely divided Parliament.
The Forum reaffirmed their confidence in Bagbin’s capabilities and pledged their unwavering support for his continued leadership in the next Parliament.
