Supporters of the National Democratic Congress who vandalized party’s Effutu Office during a protest have apologized to President John Mahama, the NDC Party and the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Effutu in the just ended elections, for their actions.
The supporters had embarked on the protest last Saturday to demand an appointment for their Parliamentary Candidate, James Kofi Annan, who they said had suffered victimization and intimidation at the hands of NPP members and leaders when their party was in Opposition
At a press conference the group said their action was triggered by frustration, and the news of the appointment of the Gaming Commissioner, someone they believed was in bed with the NPP, and yet had been given an appointment ahead of the parliamentary candidate, “who had suffered so much for the party, and had his businesses targeted because of his financial support to the NDC”.
They cited acts of victimization and intimidation the candidate had been subjected to, by some members and leaders in the NPP, when the NDC went into opposition.
Spokesperson for the Group, Musa Moro, also apologized to the Effutu constituency executives, whose meeting they disrupted during the demonstration.
He called on the executives to appeal to Dr. James Kofi Annan to forgive them, as he had expressed anger at them for associating his name with their actions.
As a show of remorse, the group promised to fix all the things they destroyed during the demonstration, and indicated that they were prepared to accept any disciplinary measures that the party would take against them.
