Nana Agradaa
The Circuit Court in Accra has jailed popular former chief priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, for 15 years for engaging in charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretences.
Nana Agradaa had been charged with leading several people to lose significant sums of money through a televised advertisement she aired in 2022, in which she claimed to possess the power to double money for members of the public.
The court had ordered Nana Agradaa to be taken to the hospital for a pregnancy test in line with sentencing guidelines.
Following a negative pregnancy test, the Judge, proceeded to deliver the sentence in what many see as a strong signal to charlatanic advertisement and scams clothed in religious epithets that have raised concerns among many Ghanaians and religious leaders.
