Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is set to face Parliament on Thursday, July 24, to present the 2025 Mid-Year budget, the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan has announced.
During the presentation of the explanatory memorandum on the Business Statement for the eighth week of Parliament ending July 19, 2025, the Deputy Majority Leader explained that the mid-year budget review is a constitutional requirement aimed at assessing the government’s fiscal performance and expenditure against the original budget for the first half of the year (January – June 2025).
The review, in line with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), provides an opportunity to scrutinize economic projections, revenue collection, government spending patterns, and adjust projections or policies for the second half of the year
“The mid-year again will happen on the 24th of July. I think the committee on the selection issue, Right Honourable Speaker, has been engaging with it. He is out of the jurisdiction, and so when he comes back, I am sure he will get it sorted out,” Hon. Ricketts-Hagan told the House.
The July 24th review is expected to provide insights into the country’s macroeconomic performance, focusing on key indicators such as inflation trends, foreign exchange rate stability, and progress in structural reforms.
