Wanted IT Engineer gets bail after turning himself in

Raphael Mensah, an IT engineer declared wanted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), has turned himself in and been granted bail after appearing before the court on Monday, July 15.

Mensah was out of the country when the OSP issued a wanted notice for him on July 8, 2025. He is accused of aiding and abetting the improper use of a public office for personal gain, contrary to sections 20(2) and 179C(a) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

According to the OSP, Mensah is a key suspect in an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption involving the abuse of public office.

Upon his return to Ghana, Mensah voluntarily reported to the OSP and was subsequently arraigned. The court granted him bail in the sum of GHS 100,000, with two sureties. He was also ordered to deposit his passport with the court and is required to report to the OSP every two weeks.

The OSP had earlier called on the public to assist in locating Mensah, releasing contact information to receive tips. Investigations into the matter are still ongoing, with court proceedings set to continue.
