GFA announces dates for 2025/26 Ghana Premier League Season

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season.

This season’s GPL campaign is set to kick off on the weekend of September 12, 2025, and conclude on the weekend of May 23/24, 2026.

According to the GFA, this timeline has been strategically aligned with the 23rd FIFA World Cup, which is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, to ensure that all major domestic competitions wrap up before the international tournament kicks off.

In preparation for the season, the Association has announced that Congress will convene on August 12, 2025, to finalize measures geared towards launching the Premier League on schedule and wrapping it up in May 2026, sticking to the approved FIFA calendar for all Member Associations.

According the schedule, matches will mostly occur on weekends, with midweek slots reserved for any outstanding fixtures, similar to the schedule of the 2024/25 season.

The new season presents a chance for reigning champions Bibiani Gold Stars SC to defend their title and also welcomes the three new entrants Techiman Eleven Wonders Football Club, Swedru All Blacks United Football Club, and Hohoe United Football Club, following their successful campaigns in the Access Bank Division One League.
