If they call 5k men, we will call 100k men – Fuseini Abanga
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Aowin constituency, Fuseini Yakubu Abanga, has sent a strong message to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), warning that the NPP is fully prepared for the upcoming Akwatia by-election.
Speaking to the press at the just-ended NPP National Delegates Conference, Mr. Abanga emphasized that while the party remains committed to peace, it will not be intimidated.
“We are the party of peace. The NPP has always led initiatives that have strengthened Ghana’s democracy, and we will continue on that path,” he said. “But let me make this clear—if the NDC says they will bring 5,000 men to Akwatia, we will respond with 100,000.”
His comments came in response to concerns about possible violence in the by-election, following tensions that marred the Ablekuma North constituency rerun.
“We will not sit down for someone to call 2,000 or 5,000 men. If you bring 5,000, we’ll bring 100,000. We are very prepared,” he stressed. “We won’t allow any small boy to toy with the NPP.”
Abanga assured the public that the NPP is committed to a peaceful election but also ready to defend the party’s interests and the integrity of the ballot box.
The Akwatia by-election has become a major focus for both political parties following the death of it recent MP, Ernest Kumi.
