Former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere, has been detained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after failing to meet bail requirements following his formal charge in an ongoing investigation into alleged procurement breaches at the GACL.
According to the OSP, Mr. Adom-Otchere, along with two others, was interviewed and charged in connection with a controversial revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private company linked to the owner of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). The probe centres on potential procurement infractions, particularly the award of a sole-sourced contract to a company that was not approved by the GACL Board.
As part of his bail conditions, Mr. Adom-Otchere is required to present two landed properties registered in his name. However, he has reportedly informed investigators that he does not own any such property in Ghana, leaving him in custody until alternative arrangements can be made to satisfy the bail terms.
Also charged are Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive for Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems.
