The family and management of legendary highlife icon Daddy Lumba have announced a last-minute change of venue for his one-week observance.
The ceremony, still set for Saturday, August 30, 2025, will now take place at Black Star Square (Independence Square) in Accra, the same location where a candlelight vigil in his honour was held weeks earlier.
Originally scheduled for the University of Ghana Stadium, the event had to be moved following a formal reminder from the La State Council.
At a press conference in Accra today, council representatives explained that a ban on noise-making within the La Traditional Area would be in effect from Monday, August 11, 2025, to September 5, 2025. Since the initial venue fell within that jurisdiction, the council advised the family to either postpone or relocate the gathering.
Opting against postponement, Daddy Lumba’s team confirmed the relocation while assuring fans that the date remains unchanged.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this adjustment may cause and deeply appreciate your understanding,” the statement read.
